'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Cherries talks with Jackson at 'advanced stage'

AFC Bournemouth are reportedly close to completing the signing of former Norwich City striker Simeon Jackson.

The 26 year old Canadian international was released by Premier League side Norwich at the end of last season after making 85 appearances since his 600,000 move from Gillingham three years ago.

35 appearances came in the Premier League, with Jackson scoring four goals, overall he scored 21 league and cup goals for Norwich.

Alex Aldridge a reporter for the Southwark News wrote on Twitter on Wednesday 26 June, that the Millwall target had been offered a contract by the Cherries.

Hear #afcb, who are backed by big money, have offered Simeon Jackson a contract.

He went on to add...

At this stage all offers, by all clubs, will be verbal. Discussing numbers etc.

Sky Sports also reported that they believed that 'Bournemouth are lining up a move' with Jackson on Cherries manager Eddie Howe's 'wanted list'.

Despite Jackson currently being away with the Canada squad for the Gold Cup, the move has developed over the past week, with Alex Aldridge once again tweeting that...

#afcb offer to Jackson worth up to 17,000-a-week all things considered. Pretty hefty. Club certainly going places under Howe.

The Daily Echo's Neil Perrett later tweeted...

Just spoke to his previous agent who said he was one of the lower paid at Norwich. 5-7k more realistic. #afcb

Financial fair play bods would have kittens. There is a reason why #afcb aren't going mad in transfer market.

Despite the conflicting reports on Twitter, Sky Sports are now reporting that...

Talks are thought to be at an advanced stage as Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe looks to make Jackson his third signing of the summer following the arrivals of Ian Harte and Elliott Ward.
