Mitchell: Cherries will be ready for Real Madrid

AFC Bournemouth chairman Eddie Mitchell has declared that the Cherries Dean Court home will be ready for the visit of Spanish giants Real Madrid.

The latest phase of development at the Goldsands Stadium is an expansion of the club shop and the erection of a temporary stand that will boost the attendances at the ground to around 12,000.

The works follow on from other improvements around the stadium which has seen the facilities around the ground improved, as well as a training ground built in Kings Park.

Despite only having 18 days before the visit of the nine time European Cup winners, Mitchell insists that all building work will have been completed before the day.

Mitchell told the Daily Echo...

'We had a very tight schedule for the stand, to get it open on August 3 (season opener)...'

"...Now we have booked this game, it is an even bigger task. But it is well under way and we will get it done in time.

"We are also aiming to get the shop finished for then, so it should be a great evening."
