MacDonald: We all want to be successful

AFC Bournemouth midfielder Shaun MacDonald will be taking each day as it comes during pre-season.

The Cherries midfielder is hoping to be competing for a place in Eddie Howe's starting line up once the Cherries Championship campaign kicks off next month.

Throughout the final stages of AFC Bournemouth's League One promotion run, midfielders Harry Arter and Eunan O'Kane controlled the centre of midfield for the Cherries, with MacDonald making a number of substitute appearances.

But with the Cherries pre-season schedule picking up the pace as the squad travel to Switzerland, MacDonald is determined to show the right attitude and willingness to improve.

MacDonald told afcb.co.uk...

"We all have to put the work in and listen to what the gaffer and the staff want from us individually and as a team, Whatever league you are in you have to put a shift in in training every day. We all want to be successful and do well for the club, but we won`t be able to do that unless we have the right attitude.

"We don`t want to look too far ahead and I`m not the type of player to do that. I take each day as it comes and my aim is to work hard in training and try to keep on improving.

"That`s what Eddie and Jason look for because they want us to be working hard for each other and to be ready for the new season when it starts."

I think SM was very unfortunate to lose his place in the team. Hope he can command a starting place next season
