Francis signs new Cherries deal

AFC Bournemouth right back Simon Francis has signed a new deal at Dean Court.

The Cherries defender had twelve months on his previous contract remaining, but his new improved deal now runs until the end of the 2015/16 season, following in the footsteps of fellow defender Steve Cook in signing a new three year deal.

The 28 year old was the Cherries leading appearance maker last season and has been a very reliable and dependable player since joining the club in November 2011, when he was signed by former manager Lee Bradbury.

He has remained the clubs first choice right full back under Bradbury, Paul Groves and current manager Eddie Howe.

Francis told the Daily Echo...

'We`ve been having talks for a while now but it can be hard to get things sorted when you`re away from the ground and people go on holiday.

"It is never an overnight thing and a lot of stuff goes back and forth, but the club always knew I wanted to be a part of things moving forward and it was all pretty easy in the end.

"Of course, getting your future sorted is something you look for. It was always in the back of my mind with a year left, as long as we were doing well, to ask to stay."
