Cherries get Harte

AFC Bournemouth have completed the signing of veteran Ian Harte.

The former Leeds, Reading and Republic Of Ireland left back has signed a one year deal at Dean Court after rejecting reports that he was set to sign for Championship rivals Middlesbrough.

The 35 year old was released by Reading following their relegation from the Premier League at the end of last season.

Veteran Harte made his debut for Leeds United in the Premier League in 1996 and has gone on to make over 500 appearances for Leeds, Levante (Spain), Sunderland, Blackpool, Carlisle, Reading and Republic Of Ireland.

Harte told the Daily Echo...

"I met Eddie Howe on Saturday and just having an hour`s chat with him pretty much convinced me to sign. He is a good manager and a young manager and, like me, he is hungry. We both want to push on and do the best we can.

"This club has a great deal of ambition and it was a great achievement to get promotion I am just looking forward to the challenge ahead. The club is going places and I just wanted to be a part of it."
