Fletch joins backroom staff
AFC Bournemouth legend Steve Fletcher has joined manager Eddie Howe's backroom team as a scout.
Fletch announced his retirement from playing professional football at the end of last season and has been in talks with AFC Bournemouth throughout the summer over a new role at the club.
He joined Howe and assistant manager Jason Tindall on the training ground during the opening week of pre-season training, but his new role will be scouting the clubs upcoming opponents as well as watching potential transfer targets.
Fletch will also continue with his clubs ambassadorial role.
Fletch told afcb.co.uk...
"...The gaffer asked me to come in on Monday and watch the boys train, and it was difficult, It`s all I`ve known for 24 years and it`s the first pre-season I haven`t been part of. But the best thing for me is to be here and involved with the first team.
"It`s a new start for me now. I`ve seen the manager and he told me he expects nothing less 100 per cent and that`s what I will give.
"If I can work as hard as I have during my career and enjoy it as much as I have, then hopefully I will do a good job."
