Mitchell: Demin partnership has worked brilliantly

AFC Bournemouth chairman Eddie Mitchell has praised co-owner Maxim Demin for the impact he has had on the club over the past 20 months.

Mitchell himself took over the football club four years ago, while Russian Businessman Maxim Demin purchased Jeff Mostyn's 44% and Steve Sly's 6% of the football club and became AFC Bournemouth chairman Eddie Mitchell's 50-50 partner back in November 2011.

Demin remains, in the public domain at least a silent investor, avoiding media contact, whilst fellow Russian directors Mikhail Ponomarev and Alexey Panferov who joined in November 2012 have also kept themselves to themselves following their appointments to the AFC Bournemouth board.

But while their, and Demin's influence in public remains somewhat of an mystery to the fans, Mitchell has praised Demin's impact on the club following the teams promotion to the Championship last season.

Mitchell told afcb.co.uk...

'...Max has had a tremendous impact. I feel somewhat that I have taken a lot of the limelight away from Max, but his involvement and his contributions in finance, thought and decision making has been tremendous.

'It would be great for me to have him celebrating our achievements alongside me, but he is a family man, a business man and likes to keep himself to himself. I admire him for that.

'I didn't bring him into the club, he asked me if he could get involved. I don't think his thoughts or his input financially would have been accepted by myself if I didn't think he was the right person to get involved.

'It just materialised because our beliefs and our determination to succeed gelled really well from day one, and it has worked brilliantly.'

in a nutshell, Eddie Mitchell is just a really weird guy. He's talked the talk but he's also now walked the walk....and you have to respect that. But seriously, he just doesn't make any sense at all. Is it just me? I always find any quote from him largely just....confusing, contradictory - a bit like a transcript from a conversation a brilliant madman has with himself in the mirror. Jury's out.....with the fairies
