Ward: I was really impressed

New AFC Bournemouth signing Elliott Ward has revealed that Cherries manager Eddie Howe had a big influence in why he decided to move to Dean Court.

The 28 year old defender, had interest from a number of Championship clubs following his release from Premier League side Norwich City.

He had spent the majority of last season on loan at Nottingham Forest, but opted to make the move to the south coast after watching a personalised DVD made for him by AFC Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe.

Ward insists that the DVD made a difference, while his meeting with Howe sealed the move which led to him signing a 12 month contract at Dean Court.

Ward told the Daily Echo...

"He put together a DVD for me to show how the club wanted to play and I liked what I saw. He is the only manager who has ever done that so I was really impressed.

"He was keen to show me how the team played and a bit about the lads. The DVD highlighted how they worked and showed some of the goals from last season. It was impressive stuff and I learned a bit more about the club. The meeting with the manager was probably the biggest factor in me deciding to sign."

Howe added...

'...If he felt it (the DVD) made a difference, then that is really good to hear. It is probably testament to the players and how they played last season because it was just clips of us in games."
