Francis: Cherries belong in the Championship

AFC Bournemouth right back Simon Francis is convinced that the Cherries belong in the Championship and will prove that fact next season.

The Cherries squad are set to return to training next week ahead of setting up pre-season preparations ahead of the new campaign starting during the first week of August.

AFC Bournemouth won promotion to the second tier in English football for only the second time in the clubs history under Eddie Howe last season and Francis believes the squad has the ability to make the step up.

Francis told the Daily Echo...

"I really feel the Championship is where this club belongs. With the structure and finances behind us, the club is going places and I think it will be an exciting season.

"I have played at that level and it will be tough. I would say it will be physically tough more than anything. I think we have got ability in abundance in our squad but the step up physically is going to be a difference.

"There are a lot of bigger and stronger players in the Championship than there are in League One. If we can deal with that, we won`t have a problem because we passed the ball as well as anyone in League One and can do the same in the one above."
