Partington signs on
AFC Bournemouth defender Joe Partington has put pen to paper on a new two year contract at Dean Court.
The versatile former Wales under 21's international, had been working hard since the return of management duo Eddie Howe and Jason Tindall to adapt his game to move into a more defensive role after previously playing the majority of his career in midfield.
The Cherries youth team graduate made 18 appearances last season, mainly in the holding role in front of the back four under former manager Paul Groves.
He made five substitute appearances following the return of Howe to Dean Court in October, totalling just 20 minutes of football, before a freak training ground incident left him with a fractured right fibula.
An operation to fix the fracture, should limit the chances of complications and Partington is hopeful he can return during pre-season next month.
Partington told afcb.co.uk...
"I can`t wait to get going again once I`m fit. The gaffer has come back and he sees me as a defender, which is something I completely agree with, I love working with him and Jason (Tindall) on the training ground. Obviously, they played at the back and have great knowledge, so I`ve really enjoyed learning from them.
"I`ve benefited from their experience no end and I`ve learned a lot from Tommy (Elphick) too. He has played a lot of games even though he`s still young and he`s been great with me since he`s been here.
"I`m close to Cookie and I`ve spent a lot of time with Miles (Addison) this summer, so it`s good to learn from those guys."
