Cherries linked with Ward-Prowse signing

Southampton midfielder James Ward-Prowse has been linked with a loan move with AFC Bournemouth.

The 18 year old, is currently in Turkey as part of Peter Taylor's 21 man England squad for the Under 20's World Cup.

The Southern Daily Echo have reported that he could be set for a season long loan move to Championship newcomers Bournemouth after breaking into Southampton's Premier League squad last season.

Ward-Prowse made his debut for Saints in October 2011, but it was last seasons campaign when he really broke into the first team set up with 15 Premier League appearances including four starts.

The paper however does not appear to be impressed with the link, appearing to prefer to see Southampton nurture their own home grown talent rather than sending him down to Dean Court for a season in the Championship.

'if Saints are as keen to promote their own home-grown talent as they have made out, it would make more sense to keep him with the first team squad again in 2013/14.' wrote Sports Editor Simon Carter.

Lots of Saints fans don't like the sound of this idea but it would at least give him more chance of some game time. We like him as a player but still feel he could do with toughening up a bit more. If you were to get him he could be a good signing for you.

...sounds quality but who would give way for him?
