O'Kane is ready for The Championship

Eunan O'Kane cannot wait to demonstrate his ability in the second tier next season.

After starting the season in a more unfamiliar role out wide under Paul Groves, the former Torquay player battled his way into Eddie Howe's plans in the centre of midfield and contributed 1 goal and 8 assists over the season.

Having stepped up last season from League 2, he now faces the prospect of facing the likes of Leeds, Leicester, Forest, Blackburn, et al in The Championship. An opportunity he is relishing, as he explained to the Daily Echo:

'I think I have proved to myself that I can stand and play football at League One level and, for me personally, it is the next step to go there and challenge myself at that level... I was a bit optimistic when I came here over whether or not I would make the transition, and I have managed it okay so far. There is a little bit of optimism again going into the Championship. I have faith in my own ability and it is something I am going to look forward to and relish the challenge of.'
