Cherries club store expansion work starts

Work to expand the AFC Bournemouth club store at Dean Court is set to begin today (Wednesday).

In October the Cherries displayed plans to expand the club store at the Goldsands Stadium, the proposals showed a large extension to the current club store to be built on land in between the main stand and the North Stand.

An exhibition gave local residents the opportunity to view and comment on the proposals before the application was submitted to Bournemouth Borough Council click here to see original plans.

Work is now due to start imminently, while AFC Bournemouth chairman Eddie Mitchell has also revealed plans to start looking for a suitable premises for a club store in Poole, which would sell merchandise and tickets.

Mitchell told the Daily Echo...

"We have got a lot of supporters in the Poole area and it would be nice for them to have somewhere local to buy tickets and merchandise. Our Bournemouth shop is not too far out of town and people know where we are. Having a shop in Poole would help us and our supporters in the town."

Great News about Eddie looking for a store in Poole. With just a little more success perhaps he could look at the possibility of opening a third one just down the road in Southampton (called AFCB UTCIAD). It certainly would stir up quite a lot of publicity & media interest, even if after careful consideration he decided not to proceed!
