Pitman: I could have had more goals
AFC Bournemouth striker Brett Pitman scored his sixteenth goal of the season against Notts County on Saturday afternoon.
His sixth goal in six consecutive matches fired the Cherries to a sixth straight victory, a run of form which has placed Eddie Howe's AFC Bournemouth firmly in the mix for the automatic promotion chase.
Since returning to Dean Court, initially on loan from Bristol City, before making the move permanent in January, Pitman has had to work hard to regain the match fitness lost while sitting on the sidelines at the Championship club.
He has also adapted to playing a deeper role than his previous stint at the club, in Eddie Howe's new side which sees everyone working together in and out of possession.
But it's Pitman's goalscoring that he is well known for, but despite netting 16 in 23 League One appearances, Pitman believes he should have scored more.
Pitman told the Daily Echo...
"I expect to score every time I play. I have also hit the crossbar six times this season so I could have had a lot more goals...'
'...I didn't really know what to expect (following the transfer). I just wanted to play and have played 20-odd games now. When I left Bristol City, I was sitting in the stand every week so it is great to be out there and running around.
"The goals are coming and we have got something really big to fight for. We are second in the table and have just won six games on the bounce. If we can win our remaining three games, we should have a really good chance of going up."
