Tubbs: Good to be back

AFC Bournemouth striker Matt Tubbs was pleased with his contribution in his first start for the side since February.

Tubbs was only recalled into the side once he arrived to the ground ahead of the game with Lewis Grabban unavailable with tonsillitis.

Cherries manager Eddie Howe opted to partner Tubbs alongside Brett Pitman and the duo worked well together, with Tubbs setting up Pitman's opener during the first half and again in the second half an unselfish lay-off saw Pitman strike the crossbar.

With the 1-0 win enough to secure a fifth consecutive victory and continue the push for an automatic promotion place, Tubbs was pleased with his performance.

Tubbs told afcb.co.uk...

"It was good to be back in the team and set up the goal for Brett, who doesn`t normally miss from that far out, I`ve said before that it`s a team game and it doesn`t matter who gets the goals. Brett is in great form and you wouldn`t bet against him scoring at the moment...'

"...I`ve come on in the last few games and managed to get a couple of goals, and every time you go out there, you have to try and put yourself in the manager`s thoughts for the next game.

"We`ve got four games left now and all you can do is train well and play well when you get the opportunity because everyone`s going to get used at some point."

..you played well Matt....not easy when you don't get many windows to prove your worth...mind you I nearly got into some trouble as some geezer behind me, dressed as a 70's skinhead even though h must have been about fifty!...was obvioulsy a big Grabban fan and kept giving it the old Grabban would have etc etc throughout the game whenever you had the ball!...I told him that I thought at the moment you were worth a start!
