Ritchie: Looking forward to right wing competition

AFC Bournemouth winger Matt Ritchie is looking forward to eventually fighting for a place on the Cherries right wing.

With the Cherries suffering a defensive crisis, Ritchie has become a makeshift left back since making the move from Swindon Town to Dean Court.

Ritchie has always made it clear that he is happy to do what's required for the team, but he's also looking forward to Charlie Daniels return to fitness which will enable him to advance up the field to his more familiar right wing role.

Josh McQuoid, Lewis Grabban, Wes Fogden, Ryan Fraser and Donal McDermott have all operated on the right flank in the past and Ritchie is looking forward to the competition for places.

Ritchie told afcb.co.uk...

'...I played against Pughy and Chaz (Daniels) when I played for Swindon here and it was clear they had a great relationship, and hopefully whilst Chaz is injured, Marc and I can do our best on the left.

'I think it will be good when Charlie gets fit though and then hopefully I can get up the pitch more.

'There is a lot of competition on the right of midfield but I think that's good for everyone. It keeps everyone on their toes and everyone at the top of their game so hopefully that can all make us work a little bit harder and get the best out of each other.'

He wouldn't have to fight for a place.

....waste at LB....I think that it is something Howe has got wrong....rather get Meades back....

Hardly a waste of time. He did what he was asked to do and is not the reason we've hit the wall. The best stand in for Charlie by far. The quality of his crossing from LB has been great. Not his fault if we can't get anyone on the end of them. I'm looking forward to see him in his favoured position.
