'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Howe pays tribute to Cunningham

AFC Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe has praised long-serving media manager Mick Cunningham after he was made redundant by the club this week.

Cunningham has worked for the club for many years as club photographer, programme editor, official website editor and media manager. But on Monday he was made redundant following a off the field restructure of non-playing staff. The decision angered many AFC Bournemouth supporters who had got to know him over the years and who enjoyed his work with the matchday programme which won various awards.

On Monday evening it was reported that around six other members of staff had left the club including Commercial executive Tom Jeffes.

On Wednesday AFC Bournemouth Youth team manager Ross Embleton left the club alongside other members of the youth team set-up, whilst Sales and Marketing Executive Holly Maxwell announced on Twitter on Thursday that she had also left the club.

Howe told BBC Radio Solent...

'Mick was a huge character and put in a huge amount of work for this football club, I cannot speak highly enough of him for the work he produced and his loyalty to the club.

'He has been of huge support to me, the players and the club and I'm very sad to see him leave.

'I can only wish him well in his future career. It is always a sad day when you lose colleagues you are close to.'

good to see EH pay his tribute......but find it staggering that nothing announced by club; I guess there is no-one around in PR or media to release a statement.
