Allsop: Learning all the time

AFC Bournemouth 'keeper Ryan Allsop is looking towards the future in his battle to become the Cherries first choice goalkeeper.

The former West Brom youth team graduate, who played for England at Under 17's level went on to join Millwall in May 2011 without a single appearance at WBA.

He spent a year with Millwall again failing to break into the first team set up, before a move to League One side Leyton Orient at the start of this season provided Allsop with his break.

Allsop went on to sign a six months contract and quickly impressed, breaking into the first team and going on to make 24 appearances.

Orient however were unable to agree a new contract with Allsop and he left the club in January 2013, signing what was reported at the time as a three and a half year contract with the Cherries a few days later.

Allsop joined current Cherries number one Shwan Jalal, former England international David James, injured shot stopper Darryl Flahavan and development squad 'keeper Benjamin Büchel in the Cherries squad and Allsop is enjoying working alongside his more experienced team mates and Goalkeeper coach Neil Moss.

Allsop told the Daily Echo...

"...I was fortunate enough to get the move here and am really happy. I am working with some very experienced goalkeepers and a great coach. I am learning all the time.

"As a keeper, it is weird because you are a close-knit group but, ultimately, you are fighting for one spot with the people you work closely with every day of the week. We push and help each other and it is a good challenge. You have to look out for yourself but you are all in it together as well. I want to play and want to be number one. I know it is not going to be easy but I am up for the challenge."

"I am keen to settle down and a two-and-a-half year contract has given me some stability here. I have experienced different things at different clubs and have matured a lot as a result. My aim now is to become first-team keeper here in the future."

....good to have two decent keepers on board...Shwan is recently looking back to his best though, so Ryan may need to wait a bit?
