MacDonald: Great to get a feel of things

AFC Bournemouth midfielder Shaun MacDonald made first appearance since December for the first team against Portsmouth on Saturday.

MacDonald returned to full training last Tuesday after suffering a nasty challenge in December.

The Cherries midfielder sustained the injury during the Cherries 1-0 victory over Colchester on 15th December suffering an ankle injury.

He was involved in Eddie Howe's squad that made the trip to stadium:mk as cover, but was not involved, but did make an appearance against Pompey as a 89th minute substitute.

MacDonald is set to be in contention to fight for a place in the side and attempt to displace one of Harry Arter or Eunan O'Kane.

MacDonald told the Daily Echo...

"I know I wasn`t on for long against Portsmouth but it was great to get a feel of things and be out there with the lads.

"The ankle feels really strong and, hopefully, I can go from strength to strength and slowly work my way back into the team. The lads have been outstanding, not only as individuals but as a team as well. I believe in my ability to eventually get back into the team somewhere down the line."
