Howe: It is in Jalal's hands

AFC Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe has said that the number one spot in the Cherries team is in Shwan Jalal's hands.

After a fifteen game unbeaten run in the league with former England international 'keeper David James in goal, Cherries manager Eddie Howe opted to replace James following the 3-1 away defeat to Walsall last weekend.

James dropped out of the matchday squad for Tuesday nights away trip to Hartlepool, with Shwan Jalal re-instated in goal after impressing in the FA Cup and new signing Ryan Allsop was named on the bench.

Howe believes that Jalal's performances will improve with regular football and he hopes Jalal takes his chance to impress.

Howe told the Daily Echo...

"Distribution-wise, he was very good with his feet, his choice of kicking and where he kicked, and he made a couple of valuable saves for us.

"I don`t think we will see him at his very best until he gets a run but I was pleased with him on Tuesday..."

"...He played on Tuesday, we won and he performed well. Now, it is in his hands and, hopefully, he can take his chance."
