AFC Bournemouth stand in captain Tommy Elphick wants the Cherries to average around two points per game over the remainder of the season.
The Cherries endured a poor start to this seasons League One campaign, in October AFC Bournemouth were sitting in 21st place in the table with just 8 points from eleven games and firmly set in the relegation places, 11 points behind the play-off places and 19 points behind then leaders Tranmere Rovers.
Just one win had left AFC Bournemouth's promotion hopes seemingly in tatters.
But a run of seventeen games unbeaten in all competitions, taking 34 points from a possible 42 in the league has seen Eddie Howe's side climb the table to seventh, level on points with the top six and 8 points behind top of the table Tranmere and Doncaster who are level on points.
That run of form which has seen 10 wins from 14 games, is an average points tally of 2.43 points per game and Elphick would like to continue that form over the remaining 21 games.
Elphick told the Daily Echo...
'...If we are to do anything (this season), we have got to average more than two points per game for the rest of the season. In previous years, an average of two points per game from the start of the season would have got you automatic promotion.
"We are a little below that at the moment and need to start turning some of our draws into wins so we can try to get up towards the top two...'
"...All we can do is concentrate on ourselves because we don`t want to be relying on other teams to do us favours and we don`t want to hit another barren patch."
