Cook: All about togetherness

AFC Bournemouth defender Steve Cook has praised centre back partner Tommy Elphick ahead of the Cherries trip to Wigan in the FA Cup.

The former Brighton defenders have been at the heart of the Cherries recent run of games which has seen the Cherries keep four consecutive clean sheets.

Cook stepped into replace Miles Addison in the Cherries defence after the club captain suffered an injury. Elphick was handed the captains armband and supported by Simon Francis at right back, Charlie Daniels at left back and David James in goal, Cook believes the togetherness of the defence has been key to recent performances.

Cook told the Daily Echo...

"We have had a settled back five and everyone has showed concentration and work-rate.

"Tommy leads very well from the back. He is a very good captain, stepping in for Miles, and that is what you have got to have in a squad like ours."

"We perform as a team and that is crucial. We have got a young side and we are all still learning, so it is all about togetherness and we just need to kick on."
