Elphick: Support has been phenomenal

AFC Bournemouth stand-in captain Tommy Elphick has praised the Cherries supporters for getting behind the team during the Christmas period.

Elphick has stood in for the injured Miles Addison over the past month with the team remaining undefeated throughout and have now posted four consecutive clean sheets.

Dean Court was sold out for home fans on Boxing Day, as the Cherries defeated Yeovil Town 3-0 in front of 8,016, whilst just a few days later AFC Bournemouth secured another 3-0 win over Crawley in front of 7,855.

At Brentford, the Cherries travelling support sold out the full allocation for the New Years Day fixture, whilst Saturday's FA Cup trip to Premier League side Wigan has seen 1,600 tickets already sold ahead of the game with eleven AFCB Vital sponsored supporters coaches set for the trip.

Elphick told afcb.co.uk...

"...The support has been phenomenal. We had 16,000 through the gates for the two home Christmas games and as a player, it makes it an even better experience. We are getting the crowds because we are winning, and it`s up to us to keep doing that...'

'...Teams are now looking at us and playing catch up. It is nice, but as I said, football has the habit of biting you in the backside sometimes.

"It is amazing how we have turned things around and with the squad we have got, no one can take their eye off the goal and we have to be on it in every game."
