O'Kane: Over the moon with the goal

AFC Bournemouth midfielder Eunan O'Kane was delighted to score his first goal for the Cherries during the sides FA Cup victory over Carlisle.

The 22 year old who was a £175,000 summer signing from League Two side Torquay United, was a regular starter under former manager Paul Groves.

O'Kane made eight starts in his first ten league appearances, but dropped to the bench for Eddie Howe's first game of his second stint at Dean Court.

The midfielder had failed to start a single game under Howe, but got his chance on Saturday with Howe making five changes for the trip to Carlisle.

Both Wes Fogden and Eunan O'Kane got their chances to impress replacing Josh McQuoid and the suspended Harry Arter and the duo both scored in the 3-1 win.

O'Kane told afcb.co.uk...

"I was over the moon with the goal and it`s been a long time coming, I`ve been here since August, so to get my first goal in December is a little disappointing.'

"The competition here is fierce and that can only be a help to us. If you want to be successful, you need people who are ready to step in at any time.

"I feel that I performed well, and if that can help to push Harry (Arter) on even more, then I have not only done well for myself but also for the team. It is only going to give the manager selection problems and that is a good thing to have...'
