Francis: We can target an upset

AFC Bournemouth defender Simon Francis believes that the Cherries can target an FA Cup upset in the third round of the competition.

The Cherries reward for knocking out League One rivals Carlisle United in the second round of the Cup was a third round away tie with Premier League side Wigan Athletic.

Whilst the tie is not the most glamorous of fixtures, with the Cherries playing Wigan away as recently as 2005 in the League Cup and being in the same division as recently as 2002, a Cherries victory would be one of the upsets of the round with Wigan now an established top flight side and the Cherries in the third tier.

Francis told afcb.co.uk...

"I think like most players will say, I would have liked a trip to Old Trafford as they have always been my team, However with the way we are playing, I would fancy anyone at home, but we have Wigan away and it`s a game we can go and get a result in.

"My old club Bradford went there this season in the Capital One Cup and won, so there is no reason we can`t do the same."
