Elphick: We needed a sense of direction

AFC Bournemouth defender Tommy Elphick believes the Cherries have discovered their 'sense of direction' since the return of Eddie Howe as manager.

The Cherries have won six of their last seven games in all competitions since Howe's return to Dean Court was confirmed. It has been a remarkable turnaround from a side that had won just once in twelve games under former manager Paul Groves.

Elphick was signed during the summer from Brighton by Groves. He had previously missed all of last season with an Achilles injury and had initially been eased back into the starting line up.

Under Eddie Howe, Elphick has featured in every game and captained the side to victory against Dagenham in the FA Cup when Miles Addison had been rested.

Elphick believes that the team spirit has also improved and the defender hopes the side can keep the current run of form going.

Elphick told BBC Radio Solent...

'With so many new players it was always going to take time to bed in, Every player who joined in the summer had the view of where they wanted to be and where they wanted to get to,'

'But we needed a sense of direction and we've got that in the past few weeks and the team spirit has been unreal.

'The longer we can keep that going the longer we can keep this winning run going.'
