Howe: We showed a really resilient side

AFC Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe was pleased with his teams resilience to hold on to a 1-0 win over promotion hopefuls Doncaster Rovers.

The home side had settled into life in League One quite well following their relegation from the Championship last season, they had been holding on to a play-off position before the game and had been one of the in form sides in the league.

But a Harry Arter effort during the first half gave the Cherries something to hold on to and with AFC Bournemouth's first clean sheet since Eddie Howe's return, the side returned to Dean Court with another three points and Howe's fifth win from six league and cup games.

Howe told the Daily Echo...

'...today was probably the first time where we have really had to batten down the hatches, in the second half, and we had to really compete, stop crosses, defend crosses and defend their long throws and set-plays. We did all that, we blocked holes and we made it difficult for Doncaster.

"I looked through their team before the game and I think every one of their players has played in the Championship so we knew it was going to be a really good test. They are a really experienced side with a lot of players who have been there at a higher level and performed really well.

"I thought their experience showed, in terms of them controlling possession, but we did show a really resilient side and that pleased me more than anything."
