Howe: Hopefully we can convince Pugh to sign

AFC Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe is hopeful he can persuade Cherries favourite Marc Pugh to sign a new deal with the club.

Marc Pugh's current contract is set to expire at the end of the 2012/13 season and if he doesn't agree a new deal with the Cherries he will be able to leave the club on a free transfer come the end of the current campaign.

Pugh has always been open about his situation, stating that he wants to play at the highest level possible.

Since Howe's return to the club was announced Pugh has scored four goals in six appearances and has looked a rejuvenated player and has publicly stated how pleased he has been since his return to Dean Court.

Eddie Howe first signed Pugh in June 2010 during his first stint as manager of the Cherries.

Howe told BBC Radio Solent...

'If we can convince him we are an ambitious club and we are trying to go places then hopefully he'll sign that contract...'

'...I look at it both ways. He backs himself and his ability. He's not money motivated and all those qualities I really like in people. It's got to be right for him and we respect that.'
