Fletch: We can be a force

AFC Bournemouth legend Steve Fletcher believes the Cherries are showing signs of becoming the force the side have threatened to be.

Since the announcement that Eddie Howe and Jason Tindall were returning to the club, the Cherries have gone three games unbeaten.

With Howe and Tindall watching on from the stands, with the Dean Court faithful buoyed by their pre-game appearance, AFC Bournemouth went on to beat Leyton Orient 2-0 to record their first home win of the season.

A week later and with Howe in the dugout, the Cherries came from behind to beat League One leaders Tranmere 3-1 on Saturday and on Tuesday night, the Cherries once again came from behind to take a point at Notts County.

While coming from behind twice has shown the Cherries new character under Howe, Fletch wants the side to perform throughout the 90 minutes rather than just the second half.

Fletch told afcb.co.uk...

'...We have shown we are capable of being a very good side. We have passion and determination, as well as a lot of individual and collective quality.

"But we need to make sure we maintain that high level of performance throughout the whole 90 minutes - there are still things to work on.

"We have to play with tempo. When we play with a higher tempo and we push teams back, we are a force."

The "weakness" does appear to be a lack of pace in defence, but Eddie is talking of bringing in full backs, both right and left to provide both cover and competition and no doubt has this matter well in hand.
