FA Cup First Round Draw

The draw for the first round proper of the FA Cup is set to be made this (Sunday) afternoon.

The Cherries will be number 2 in the draw of 80 clubs, which includes all League One and Two sides as well as 32 non-league clubs.

There is £18,000 at stake for the winners in the first round of the FA Cup, with a further £27,000 for the winners in round two, plus the chance to get drawn against a Premier League side in round three.

AFC Bournemouth defender Steve Cook is hoping for an away tie at his home town club Hastings United (ball number 69).

The Isthmian Premier Division side defeated Blackfield & Langley in the final qualifying round on Saturday to get through to get into the hat for the first round proper.

The draw will be made on ITV1 at 1.30pm.

Cook told the Daily Echo...

'...I've got a lot of mates who play for them (Hastings United) and I know the manager really well. They are struggling a bit in the league, but having a great run the cup. Hopefully, we'll get them in the first round.

'I'd be buzzing if we got them. Even though it's my home town, I've never played at the Pilot Field and it would be great...'

Speaking about Eddie Howe's return to the club Cook added...

'The gaffer coming in has been like a breath of fresh air. We have been sharp all week and although we seemed a bit nervous in the first half, we were excellent after the break. It was probably the best we have played for sixth months...'
