Zubar: Competition is normal

AFC Bournemouth defender Stephane Zubar insists that the fierce competition for places in the Cherries squad does not scare him.

Returning management duo Eddie Howe and Jason Tindall are expected to trim the large squad that they have inherited from former Cherries managers Paul Groves and Lee Bradbury.

With over 30 professional players to choose from, all players have to prove themselves to keep their place in the squad and in central defence the competition is no different.

Stephane Zubar, Tommy Elphick, Steve Cook and club captain Miles Addison are all options at centre half and Zubar insists that whatever Howe's decision, the players will respect it.

Zubar told afcb.co.uk...

"I believe in what I can do, I am not afraid - we are Bournemouth. If one day you want to play in the Championship, competition is normal. We want to play in the Championship as soon as possible so it is normal.

"If you don`t want to have competition, don`t play here - don`t stay in Bournemouth."

'We have 34 players, he can play only 11 and if there are seven on the bench, we will have players who will be disappointed. He will make his decision and we will have to respect it...'
