Howe: We will consider Thomas recall

AFC Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe will consider recalling Cherries striker Wesley Thomas from his loan spell with Portsmouth at the end of the month.

The 25 year old joined League One neighbours Portsmouth on an emergency 30 day loan at the end of September and scored on his debut against Scunthorpe.

He went on to score his second of the season last weekend against Crewe and has at least three more games with his adopted club to continue his goal scoring form.

Thomas' loan spell with Portsmouth ends after the Sheffield United game on 29th October and Pompey are keen to extend his loan spell at Fratton Park with Portsmouth manager Michael Appleton keen to open talks with the Cherries this week.

But with Howe only a couple of days into assessing his new squad of players after returning to Dean Court at the weekend, he may well opt to take a closer look at Thomas.

Howe told the Daily Echo...

"Wes is someone we have always admired from afar. We are quickly assessing the squad and are well stocked in the striker department.

"But, with someone with Wes`s qualities and attributes, we are going to have to think long and hard about what we do with him before his loan is up.

"We can`t do anything for the first 28 days but, once we are able to recall him, it is certainly something we would think about."

I think him & Barnard are same sort of player so to me it's one or the other. With Eddie in charge I hope we'll start seeing the best Barnard but yes, he' been alright since joining.

Thomas was almost undoubtedly scouted by EH when he was here before. The fact Bradury brought him in is probably only down to the fact that Howe left his shopping list behind. I think we'll see him in a red and black shirt again if he keeps his Portsmouth form up.

^what?! I'd want to come back with EH and JT in charge. If Thomas and Barnard are so similar ending Barnard's loan spell will save us a fair bit of money...although he put in a decent shift against Orient.

Thomas only doesn't want to come back if he's sitting on the bench. Which is fair enough.

I don't think a partnership of Thomas & Barnard would work but who knows? Funny how I mentiond signing Mcleod but yet we sign Tubbs who can't link with Thomas upfront.
