Hargreaves: Looking forward to Winchester

AFC Bournemouth development coach Chris Hargreaves ended his temporary period in charge of the first team satisfied.

Hargreaves assisted first team coach Dennis Rofe for two games following the sacking of former manager Paul Groves and assistant Shaun Brooks.

The Cherries lost away to Coventry 1-0 in the first game and defeated Leyton Orient 2-0 at Dean Court to record the sides first home win of the season on Saturday.

With Eddie Howe and Jason Tindall now taking over first team affairs, Hargreaves will return to his former role and lead his side against Winchester in Tuesday nights re-arranged Hampshire Senior Cup second round tie.

Supporters are able to pay on the gate with £5 for adults and £3 for concessions (kick off 7.45pm).

AFC Bournemouth have won this competition on three occasions, the first time coming in 1924 with the last time coming in 1989.

Hargreaves told afcb.co.uk...

"I was very satisfied how it went, and it gave me a taste of it, We tried hard with the players during the week and it was good. They listened, did really well and in the second half on Saturday did exactly what we planned. That was great because they were on the front foot, we stifled the opposition and got reward.

"I'm really pleased for the players because they have had a bit of a tough couple of weeks. They needed to give a performance, and they did just that. It would have been great for Eddie and Jason sat in the stands to see that. They can now start on the back of a win and he is taking over a good group of players."

"There is no time to sit back and relax; we have to prepare for the Winchester game. I would expect a few first team players who need a game will feature. My lads will be involved too, and it's a nice game for them to look forward to. It's under lights at the stadium, against decent opposition, so we are all looking forward to it."
