Mitchell: Howe was the right man

AFC Bournemouth chairman Eddie Mitchell believes the return of Eddie Howe was right for the club.

Former Cherries defender and manager Eddie Howe alongside former utility player and assistant manager Jason Tindall made their sensational returns to the club on Saturday after leaving Championship side Burnley on Friday evening.

Howe and Tindall watched on from the Energy Consulting box on the half way line on Saturday as Cherries first team coach Dennis Rofe guided the side to their first home win of the season.

The duo will take charge of their first game on Saturday against top of the table Tranmere Rovers and Mitchell believes the club now has the right man to take the club forward and eventually on to the Championship.

Mitchell told BBC Radio Solent...

'My wife persuaded me to try and bring them (Eddie Howe and Jason Tindall) back. I don't normally listen to her so I had to swing it so that it was my idea so then it was OK,'

'I didn't see why they wouldn't want to drop down to League One (from Burnley) and, who knows, we might overtake them soon.

'The fans were a big factor but the main thing is we wanted the right man to take the club forward.'

It’s not important whose idea it was, it was the right decision. Well done EM.
