Burnley disappointed with Howe departure

Burnley chairmen John Banaszkiewicz and Mike Garlick have said they are 'surprised and disappointed' to lose Eddie Howe as their manager.

The Championship club appointed Eddie Howe as manager in January 2011, with a long-term vision for the club.

Burnley have been in transition ever since their relegation from the Premier League and during Howe's tenure at the club, Burnley's budget has changed dramatically. However Howe's departure was based on personal reasons rather than professional ones.

During his 21 months in charge, a lot has happened in Howe's personal life, in August 2011 wife Vicki gave birth to their first child Harry, whilst in March this year his Mum Annie sadly died.

Those circumstances are what prompted the move and the Burnley chairman accepted the situation and wished Howe well in the future.

Burnley chairmen John Banaszkiewicz and Mike Garlick told the Lancashire Telegraph...

'We are surprised and disappointed that Eddie is leaving a great club like Burnley so soon in the season,"

"However, we understand that his decision reflects his personal circumstances rather than any matters at Burnley Football Club, be that supporters, the players or the board.

"We wish Eddie well in his future career and thank him for the hard work he has done at Burnley over the past 20 months.
