AFC Bournemouth chairman Eddie Mitchell has revealed that he is still receiving applications for the vacant managerial position at the Goldsands Stadium.
Former manager Paul Groves and his assistant Shaun Brooks were sacked six days ago, with Mitchell beginning the search for a new manager almost immediately.
Mitchell has previously publicly stated that he would consider making approaches to other clubs for managers who are currently employed suggesting that possible targets such as Burnley manager Eddie Howe and MK Dons manager Karl Robinson could be potential candidates. However Mitchell now believes the most likely route the club will take will be to employ someone who is currently not connected to another club.
The Cherries chairman revealed he had a number of meetings lined up throughout the week but hoped a decision could be close by Thursday evening.
Mitchell told afcb.co.uk...
'There are lots of people out there who are looking at the job and have shown a desire to come and work at Bournemouth, but it has to suit our budget and it has to suit our expectations of where we want to go,'
'The likelihood is that we'll pursue the best possibility of somebody that is between jobs rather than employed.
'Even last night there were applications made to me and again they are recognised names, so there is still people coming in.
'We have got to do our best to find the right person whilst we have got this break in jobs.'
