James: We conceded a cheap goal

AFC Bournemouth 'keeper David James believes that if the Cherries can tighten up in defence then the side will begin to climb the League One table.

The Cherries have the worst defensive record in the division, conceding 21 goals during the opening 11 games of the season, including 10 during the last four games which have all been lost.

The former England International believes the squad have shown potential, but need to improve defensively to move forward.

James told afcb.co.uk...

'The biggest frustration was conceding a cheap goal, From a throw in in the final third which adds to the four goals from set-plays that we have conceded in the last three games and it is something that needs to be worked out.'

'I think the team are good, In training we do some fantastic stuff à la the first half (Saturday), when the ball was being played about and we just need to continue doing that - tighten up the set plays and all of a sudden we'll rise up the league.'

'None of the teams we have played against have been capable of doing what we are capable of doing when we get it right - it's doing it for 90 minutes, and getting a win on Saturday.'

Sorry Mr James, I thought we had a team of professional footballers who get paid to play for ninety minutes and to score goals and stop the other team scoring. Now I realise what I've been doing wrong in following AFCB, I was expecting you to play decent football and to score goals. Sorry for my misunderstanding !!

DM "..In training we do some fantastic stuff ....". ------ So when training who do you play against?, is it the Poppies under 10s? The defence is currently disorganised and clueless. Put the hours in and sort it out. Hard work is what most of us do, so the players should do the same.
