Hargreaves: Football taught us a lesson
AFC Bournemouth development coach Chris Hargreaves believes the Cherries were taught a hard lesson against Coventry.
The Cherries were undone by a David McGoldrick strike on 60 minutes after the former Cherries loanee broke through the away sides defence and tucked the ball past David James.
AFC Bournemouth had enjoyed the better of the first half but had failed to find the breakthrough and Hargreaves believes that the team can take the positives from the first 45 minutes.
Hargreaves told afcb.co.uk...
"You have to remain calm and take the positives. We went with a 433 in the first half, and really, we should have been coming off one or two goals ahead. With confidence and the lads with their tails up, we would be doing that, and confidence is a massive part of the game.
"It should have been a scrappy 0-0, or a scruffy 1-0 win and that`s what I thought the game would end up like. Football though taught us a big lesson again. Lee Barnard had a great chance, the keeper saved it and 30 seconds later, they scored.
"That is what is happening at the moment, but I am encouraged by the first half performance. I was encouraged by the shape and the players reacted well to something that was different. I couldn`t see any danger from Coventry until they changed their shape in the second half..."
