Mitchell: Phone hasn`t stopped ringing

AFC Bournemouth chairman Eddie Mitchell believes there will be a lot of interest in the vacant managerial position at the Goldsands Stadium.

Paul Groves and his assistant Shaun Brooks were both sacked by the club on Wednesday after just one win throughout the first two months of the new League One campaign.

The duo have been offered their previous positions back in the youth team set-up, but for the time being the search for a new manager continues at Dean Court.

Reports have suggested that current AFC Bournemouth 'advisor' Harry Redknapp would not be interested in the role, while reports in the Daily Echo believe the club are set to approach Championship side Burnley over the possibility of Eddie Howe returning to the club.

The bookmakers however have installed Steve Cotterill as the early favourite, while Yeovil manager Gary Johnson has also been linked.

Mitchell told afcb.co.uk via Hot Radio...

"We have got to find another manager and we would love to have one in charge for Saturday`s game, but we want to think about it and appoint someone as and when we are ready, It could be very soon or it could be in the distant future, but we`ve got the personnel to coach the players and get the team ready to play at Coventry on Saturday, and that`s what is going to happen.

"I`ve spoken to various people and my phone hasn`t stopped ringing with inquiries, but I`ve got to sit down and work with the people around me to find the right people to take the club forward.

"I think there will be a lot of interest in the job but I`ve got to make sure I get the right person. It can also be an expensive decision, but we want to get right and we will keep looking."

We need a manager with defensive experience, so Sean Dyche may be a good fit.

We DO NOT need a new manager in place for Saturday. We DO NEED the right manager going forward to continue our development as a division one force with championship potential. No more rush decisions. A proper recruitment process is required, carefully thought through and with proper consideration for our longer term future.

previous experience shows that our glorious chairman is looking for someone who says all the right things - instead of someone who has already proven they can do all of the right things, and do them right at more than one club. Even Eddie Howe hasn't proven he can do all of the right things more than once. So I'm hoping they go for the right CV not the guy who talks the best game. And on a personal note I'd prefer it if we don't nick a manager from another club. So that's it - I've made a decision, we should get Harry Redknapp or Jose Mourinho. Either will be fine.

....this has to be the right man for AFCB and the decision shouldn't be rushed or taken lightly. I am not convinced that a Mitchell can choose a manager or player? Let's hope that Max is taking some advice from someone in the know...after all it is HIS money that is at risk, and not the empty mind and loud gob that is our current chairman...

Steve Cotterill has it seems declined to take over. It's going to be difficult to attract the right man given the way the Club is managed.
