Mitchell: We wish Groves & Brooks well

AFC Bournemouth chairman Eddie Mitchell has wished former AFC Bournemouth management duo Paul Groves and Shaun Brooks well following their departure from the club.

The Cherries confirmed that Groves and Brooks had parted company with the club at lunchtime (Wednesday) following a string of bad performances, ending with three consecutive defeats and the club slumping to 20th in the League One table following Tuesday nights game at Crawley.

With AFC Bournemouth holding the worst defensive record in the division with 20 goals conceded during the opening 10 games of the League One campaign and only Oxford and AFC Wimbledon holding worse defensive records in the top four divisions in English football so far this season the decision was made that a change was required.

Paul Groves leaves Dean Court with a record of just 3 wins in 20 games (in all competitions), drawing 11 and losing 6, scoring 22, whilst conceding 29.

Mitchell said in a statement on afcb.co.uk...

'On behalf of AFC Bournemouth, I would like to inform the supporters and media that as of this morning, Wednesday 3rd October, we have parted company with Paul Groves as manager and Shaun Brooks as assistant manager...

'...I believe that luck has not been on their side during their short period at the helm. As we know, football is a results business, but most people will be unaware of the hard work and dedication that they put in behind the scenes to help this club move forward.

Both Paul Groves and Shaun Brooks have asked me to express their thanks to the support that they have received from the fans. We wish them well in the future, and who knows where that will take them.

As a normal person i wish good luck to them in the future, as a football fan i'm glad their gone and just hope that EM has learned his lesson from picking inexperienced managers, and hopefully Maxim will stop him from appointing one.

Well I doubt that you guys could be any further away from football than today so good luck you had a great opportunity to prove us all wrong but time and inexperience was your downfall! No doubt the great merry go round will see you pop up somewhere in the near future........
