Fletch: Crawley will be a tough nut to crack

AFC Bournemouth legend Steve Fletcher believes the Cherries will be coming up against a confident Crawley side on Tuesday night.

Fletch spent eight months with Crawley in 2008 making 21 appearances in the Conference. While Fletch went on to re-join AFC Bournemouth in 2009, playing a significant part in the Cherries fight against relegation out of the football league, to promotion from League Two the following season to reaching the League One Play-Offs twelve months later.

Since his departure, Crawley have celebrated back to back promotions to League One and have started the season well with five wins from their opening nine games and are currently seventh in the table.

Fletch told afcb.co.uk...

"I`m not surprised they have done so well because a similar thing happened to us a couple of years ago, If you had told a Crawley fan that they would have been promoted from the Conference and League Two and then been in the top seven or eight after ten games, then they probably would have laughed at you.

"But we know what it`s like. We got promoted from League Two and were on the crest of a wave and made it into the play-offs in League One the following the season.

"They`ve got a lot of players who are now seasoned pros, they`re not a young outfit and they will be a tough nut to crack...'

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/19788418 So many things wrong with Groves statement..."If there was any problem with the players in the dressing room you would see that on the pitch,"...We can see it on the pitch you helmet, they look like they can't even remember each others names..."We've bought three players and more have come on a free transfers. We wanted to improve the squad and I feel with the players we have brought in we have. But it takes time for the new players to settle"... You bought a squad of very average players and had all summer and 10 games to get them to settle. You have since panicked having realised you spent all our money on dross and signed david james....""It's a results business, but there is a process towards getting those results each week and you have to build".... We have built nothing. The performances have been consistently poor with no signs of improvement. If anything, we have been getting worse and worse...."To think you are not going to go through a season and have ups and downs is wrong"... We are nearly 25% of the way through the season and we have had no Ups. We started poor and have remained poor.....And after every game he says "Our performance hasn't been up there with what we have shown this season"... Well in actual fact Groves, you wet flannel, the performances have been the same as before. Besides the first 45 minutes of the MK Dons game, (Which you sabotaged with your half-time sub as you have no idea what you are doing) we have been waff, every minute of every game, crap. We lost 2-1 on saturday and also once again we were shocking, it was one of our best performances this season. Every word you say makes me feel embarrassed for you Groves. You are the David Brent of football managers. Your general level of chasisma, enthusiasm and tone of voice would make the most cheerful and out-going individual want to self-harm. No wonder the chairman has to go in the dressing room at half-time to shout at you - If he didn't, the players wouldn't wake up in time for the second half. I have spent a fortune this season on tickets and travel because I'm absolutely addicted to watching us play and because Sods-law says the one game I miss, we will win or at the very least I will be remotely entertained. People keep saying "If you support the lads you will go anyway", but that is bull*****. I can't justify the money I spend a week watching that trash. Would you pay £20 to watch a terrible film, or eat an awful meal? So I am afraid that I am having to add myself to the list of people not returning until something changes. I'm not paying another penny to sit on my hands, bored. The radio is far better value at the moment...Rant over, feel much better.

I fell it's all the managers fault. The players have been showing passion through the frustraition of what you have set them to do. At times they do wild passes with out even looking as if it were routine & to be honest it probely is. Groves tactics stinks & I'll keep chanting Groves out till he's gone. Then the chant will be bring in Cotterill! But still I look forward for tonight, Come On You Reds!

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/19788418 ...PG ""It's never been a concern for me. As a player you learn to cope with difficult times. Sometimes that makes you, sometimes that breaks you....". -----Just about sums this guy up. If you cared you WOULD BE CONCERNED. How long can a manager look at his feet at the dugout before someone realises he doesn't care.

^ that should have said "It's never been a concern for me. As a player of a very low calibre I have learned to cope with the many many difficult times I have endured throughout my uneventful career. Failure is what makes me but will never break me."

"He (Groves) is a lovely bloke but I am not going to tell any fan not to vent their feelings based on how nice someone is. They pay their way and have a right to an opinion" - David James 2012. I think he knows that Groves is a towel.

Just seen rumours that Ashley vickers will be the most likely manager to take over Groves. Please tell me this isn't true!

Dear Fletch you were totally correct! We have a larger squad than Pompey. We keep bringing in injured lame and re-booting retired players. Fletch you give the only value. We are in awe of the amount of cash laid at the feet of these jockers that run our passion at Dean Court. Stand up and go take your sign with you and give these wasters about you the finger. They are using you to placate the plebs that dare to challenge the regime in place. Clear off mate pack your bags and then give us the insight as to what is happening! Any club would have loved our size of squad but not the crud within it.

Grove's surely has to go after that match? We sounded awful, tactics sound rubbish and the players definitely dont like it. What is going on in defense? We should have the best defense in the league..

^Miles Addison is truly terrible in every aspect of defending, but because he is MASSIVE everyone seems to think he is decent. Drop him, play Zubar with Elphick or Cook. (I'm aware we don't have any choice whilst Francis is out)

^ Ok I'll admit I would drop Addison as he is played woefull in the last bunch of games but I see it as a drop of form wether it is due to a injurey nagging at him ,being moved to the left hand side I don't know??? But I've seen him play a lot better so something is wrong. I'd personly go back to Zubar & Cook so tbh we have have been spending in posisitions we shouldn't have. We only have one LW who is right footed & no Left wingers. We also have no back up offical right back.
