Thomas set for Pompey loan move

AFC Bournemouth striker Wesley Thomas is set to complete a one month loan move to League One local neighbours Portsmouth.

The 25 year old striker hasn't started for the Cherries since the 1-1 draw with Preston in August and hasn't featured for the Cherries since Matt Tubbs returned to the first team fold earlier this month.

With Southampton loanee Lee Barnard and Dutch striker Frank Demouge returning to fitness ahead of the game against Walsall at Dean Court on Saturday, Paul Groves has decided to give Thomas the chance to find his scoring boots elsewhere.

The former Crawley and Cheltenham striker was a revelation when he first moved to the south coast last season.

Mainly playing as a lone striker under former manager Lee Bradbury, Thomas scored six goals in his first six appearances away from home, scoring eleven goals in total during the season.

But he hasn't found the net since scoring in Paul Groves first game in charge of the Cherries away to Stevenage in March, in fact that was his only goal in his last 22 appearances.

This is actually is a incredibly good move for Thomas. Hope he does well should this happen.

Good luck.
believe!
Need to get rid of some strikers and turn our attention elsewhere, although we are not scoring lots of goals, I think these will come. Good Luck to you Wes and hopefully 3 points 2morrow

Mcleod and Thomas are very similar players... will it work?

Imo based on what I've seen I reckon Mcleod is better than Thomas & Grabban put together :L

I would have swapped him for Luke Rodgers. He impressed me at Pompey and although not the worlds best he appears to want to play as if he is. We still appear clueless. James as our goalie is different, is it a sop to the supporter? A enuine surprise? Or Harry up to tricks helping his boys. Who knows and who cares if he stabilises the defence and smiles at us all. How much is he costing per week though! Have to smile at the appointment though and like above can't wait to see him out there! The old legend.
