Mitchell: Promotion is still the aim

AFC Bournemouth chairman Eddie Mitchell has called for the Cherries supporters to get behind the team on Saturday against Walsall.

The Cherries go into the game still looking for their first home victory of the season after starting the new League One campaign with just one win, five draws and two defeats.

A sequence of results that if replicated throughout the season would leave the Cherries finishing the season on just 46 points, a tally which would have resulted in relegation to League Two in nine out of the past ten seasons.

Some sections of the AFC Bournemouth support have begun to show their frustrations with the clubs early season form following a summer of big spending at Dean Court, with calls for manager Paul Groves to be sacked last week during the 4-0 defeat to Swindon.

But Mitchell has called for the Dean Court faithful to be the sides twelfth man on Saturday.

Mitchell told the Daily Echo...

"I know it is hard to cheer when things are going against you but that is the time we need our 12th man. Good days have been in short supply this season and you need support more when you aren`t doing well.

"They don`t give you a walking stick when you are walking well - they give you one to help you get back on your feet. I know it is difficult because I am a supporter as well and it takes me days to get over a bad result.

"We are one-sixth of the way through the season and I have worked out where we would finish if things were to carry on and it is not where we want to be. We will get there and promotion is still the aim. We have all got to believe we can do it."

Eddie for gods sake do the obvious if PROMOTION is still the objective. We are a walking wounded team of individuals at present and need the right management to stop the rot. WE CAN ALL SEE IT SO WHY ARE YOU NOT DOING SOMETHING ABOUT IT.

Winning the lottery is my aim .......however an aim means nothing without DIRECTION.

If you want Supporters' help, don't continue to refuse to meet the Supporters Trust. They may not represent the majority of supporters, but any discussion with them would be for the benefit of AFCB. Why do you reject the support that is offered?

Surely EM if you have to keep asking the home support to get behind the team even you must realise there is something wrong??? ..... Groves out. And if you are really serious about promotion then ... Groves Out

Mr Mitchell. Supporters will get behind the team if the team is right. We have a 'Micky Mouse' management team which you chose. It is now your remit to do something about it. With the right choice, we will be behind the team 100%. Don't blame us for your own and the Management's shortcomings.

I see 16% of people who voted on our best summer signing picked Mcquoid my god...... and Mr Mitchell wake up and smell the bacon you got to be kidding me. I ripped my season ticket up at Swindon and I am going to watch Thatcham Town this season now...... Hometown club, instead of wasting £100 a Saturday in travel, food and beer costs......

the exciting thing for me is that Eddie Mitchell says ""We are one-sixth of the way through the season and I have worked out where we would finish if things were to carry on and it is not where we want to be." With that kind of mathematical genius on board, we can't go wrong........I think its disgraceful that he keep son urging the fans to 'get behind the team', the fans dont need to prove anything to anyone. They won't get behind a team that doesnt seem to care, a management team that don't seem to get it and a chairman who doesn't seem to be sober of thought or of body generally. If we start winning everything will be rosy but failing that....he really needs to look at what he should be doing not what he thinks the fans should be doing. The fans are the ones pointing out the mistakes but the fans are not the ones making the mistakes

I have been lucky to travel the world watching the one thing we are faithful too 24/7 Football! Go and look at last season E.M. we are back to where we satrted but have spent more and got a lot less talent. Morale is your business. The Bournemouth fan is NOT at fault! Once again another season of your STUPID wasteful mistakes! Problem is we still might start winning then all is forgotten right? WRONG you need to go but when you do leave us the cash in the till you stupid fool!
