Mitchell: Proud to be part of the club

AFC Bournemouth chairman Eddie Mitchell has admitted the atmosphere at Dean Court on Tuesday night made him proud to be chairman of the Cherries.

Mitchell was critical of the home support following Saturday's game against Hartlepool, where some sections of the crowd booed the performance at both half time and full time, with some supporters chanting for Paul Groves to be sacked as manager.

On Tuesday, despite an early set back due to an own goal from Simon Francis inside the opening ten minutes, the Dean Court faithful continued to back the side throughout an entertaining 2-2 draw against Brentford.

Mitchell told afcb.co.uk...

'When you hear the crowd chanting and getting behind the lads completely, being vocal the whole game, it makes you proud to be part of the club and it makes you determined to succeed for the club,'

'We are doing our best, we are working as hard as we can. To hear the crowd as it was on Tuesday is so rewarding for the efforts we put in and it makes you very proud to be in charge or associated with AFC Bournemouth...'

'...Really there is 12 people in this team and the twelfth person is the fans, and it showed against Brentford.'

This statement sponsored by AFCBs PR department: helping Mitchell make up for his own idiotic statements since 2009...

^ Wow what are you complaining about this time. Mitchell pretty much saved the club & since then we're back in league 1. Also I think if it wern't for that Euro torni we did then we wouldn't of had Demin at the club. You don't have to like the bloke but atleast give the guy some respect as he is a Bournemouth fan.

At the weekend he blamed us "the fans" (Mitchell isn't one, he's far too far above us for that) for booing the team. Someone in PR no doubt told him insulting his customers isn't a good idea and he "made up for it" with thay. Say what you like, we'd already have made the Championship with Howe if it weren't for Mitchell.

The fans certainly weren't singing for Groves or Mitchell. Both past there sell by dates.

Is he joking? Admittedly this was only my first league game of the season, my other being the pre season game against cardiff but me, my two friends and my dad all commented on how quiet the crowd was compared to previous seasons. Tuesday nighters at Dean Court used to attract fairly decent crowds and a much better atmosphere. We seem to have even fewer chants than last season and rarely get much support even from the North stand.

^^ What about Rednapp? He seems to be far above us & but he's still a supporter. I think he was basicly saying that we were a factor & nor trying to add more pressure on Groves. I don't condone the things he's done in the past but you got look at what he has done.
