Groves: Door not closed for Gregory

AFC Bournemouth manager Paul Groves insists that the door hasn't closed on Steven Gregory's career at Dean Court.

The midfielder returned to AFC Wimbledon on Thursday after agreeing a 93 day loan deal with his former club.

Gregory made the move from Wimbledon to the south coast 14 months ago, but has slipped down the pecking order at the Goldsands Stadium following the signings of Richard Hughes, Eunan O'Kane and Lorenzo Davids and has failed to be involved in a League One game this season.

Groves told the Daily Echo...

'...The door does not close and we will monitor him. We will speak to their manager and watch DVDs of their games. We will keep in touch with Steven and have a duty of care to look after him."

"You view people on a regular basis in training and see how they play and how they fit in with what you are doing. You also have to consider the level of quality in the position.

"Our decision is that Richard Hughes and Joe Partington play there, as does Lorenzo Davids. Steven is a good player but we feel we have got good players in that area who have performed well and probably have the edge over him at this moment in time."
