AFC Bournemouth 'keeper Darryl Flahavan is set to miss the majority of the season with a shoulder injury.
The Cherries shot stopper, who was first choice goalkeeper last season, injured his shoulder during pre-season and is likely to have an operation to solve the problem.
The expected rehabilitation time for Flahavan is around six months, although the club will be seeking a second opinion before going ahead with surgery.
AFC Bournemouth physio Steve Hard told afcb.co.uk...
"Darryl got the injury in the last game of pre-season at the Bristol City game. He went to catch the ball and the centre forward knocked in to him and he jarred his shoulder...'
'...a scan showed that he had damage to his shoulder joint, and it was very similar to the injury Wes Fogden had at the end of last season. Wes was out for four months but because Darryl is a goalkeeper he uses his arms more and we knew it needed addressing.
"He saw the surgeon on Monday and was told that it will be at least six months until he is back playing. He is booked in for an operation next week but we are going to get another opinion to see what another surgeon says, although we don`t imagine it will change dramatically."
