Groves: Redknapp is a fantastic football person

AFC Bournemouth manager Paul Groves has praised the influence that new Cherries 'advisor' Harry Redknapp has had amongst the squad.

Former Cherries manager Redknapp, joined the Cherries in a non-contract capacity on Friday after a summer away from football following his departure from Tottenham at the end of last season.

Redknapp has been a regular visitor to Dean Court during the last couple of months. He opened the new Cherries training pitches in Kings Park during pre-season and he has also been to the Cherries two home games of the new 2012/13 campaign.

On Saturday he travelled with the squad to Yeovil and sat in the main stand with AFC Bournemouth chairman Eddie Mitchell and Vice-chairman Jeff Mostyn.

Speaking after the Cherries first win of the new season Groves told BBC Radio Solent...

'Harry supported us, in terms of him being around us, he's travelled on the bus, made comments to myself in regards to how we've played, you know he's a fantastic football man and it's a pleasure to be in his company really.'

'I think he's a fantastic football person, his knowledge is second to none, his manner, the way he is as a person as well well and he knows obviously myself, Denis (Rofe), Shaun (Brooks), the way he interacts with the players in the way he speaks to any of them at all or myself he's just a fantastic person.

'Harry has taken in a one or two of the games prior to this game in respect to Preston and MK Dons obviously he's remarked ourselves on how well we've played and again today in terms of the domination of the game, I don't think he's seen to many times an away side really dominate a game as we have...'

It's just what we needed having Harry around. Groves aint that bad tacticaly (excluding the fletch subsitution) but doesn't know how to galvinise a team but with Harry about then that should really do the trick. Grabban & Thomas needs to be dropped now & Zubar should start over Elphick.

....not sure that we should be 'masking' PG & SB with having Redknapp in the background...but logically he must have so much advice that he can throw our way...certainly on the motivational front and hopefully getting the team closer together?...hope he does get a prem job soonest though!

I don't think Saturday was a coincidence. Let's keep Harry and his advice for as long as possible - and take notice of it too...
