McQuoid: We've been unlucky so far

AFC Bournemouth striker Josh McQuoid was pleased with his own performance during his first start of the season against Portsmouth.

The Northern Ireland international missed the final part of pre-season with a foot injury, but returned with a brief substitute appearance against Sheffield United last Saturday, before starting the Football League Trophy match against Portsmouth.

The Cherries had impressed in spells against Portsmouth, but left Fratton Park with a second penalty shoot-out defeat in less than a month and still without a first win of the new 2012/13 campaign.

McQuoid told afcb.co.uk...

"My fitness isn`t quite at the level I would like it to be at just yet, but it`s getting there. I came off with a little bit of cramp against Portsmouth but that`s to be expected. I feel like I`m getting fitter and sharper each day,"

"I think I did ok on Tuesday night but there`s still more to come from me. It was a big test for me physically and I was pleased with how I coped and that I managed to get through it...'

We are still looking for that first win and it will come, but we just need to be patient, Hopefully, it will come on Saturday and then as soon as we have got that we can kick on because I think we`ve been unlucky so far."
