Groves: McQuoid can open a door

AFC Bournemouth manager Paul Groves is excited about the prospect of getting a fully fit Josh McQuoid back in a Cherries shirt.

The Northern Ireland international picked up a foot injury during pre-season against Basingstoke and missed the past month with the injury.

It had been feared that the injury was quite severe but after a visit to the foot specialist, it was revealed that he had not sustained a fracture.

He did however suffer bone and soft tissue bruising and McQuoid took a few weeks to walk completely pain free. McQuoid started to jog following a further scan on his ankle and joined in with his first full training session with the squad last Thursday.

He then made his first appearance for the Cherries since his return to the club after completing a summer move back to the south coast from Millwall against Sheffield United on Saturday.

Groves told afcb.co.uk...

'...Josh had only trained for a couple of days before the weekend...'

"...At times in training he has shown that he has got ability and he is someone who gives the group something,"

"He is someone that can open a door and cause the opposition problems, but, first and foremost, he needs to get himself fit."

And tomorrow Josh learns how to use the toilet! If we are down to relying on a striker who is probably low on confidence after his Millwall/injury experiences and who isprobably not fully fit, what message does this send to the rest of the squad?
believe!
