Francis: I hold my hands up

AFC Bournemouth defender Simon Francis admitted that he was at fault for some of the individual errors that ultimately cost the Cherries at Sheffield United on Saturday.

After starting the League One campaign with three 1-1 draws, the Cherries scored three goals in one game for the first time in 2012, but still left empty handed as for the first time since 2009, the Cherries conceded five goals in a league game.

The defeat extends the Cherries record this season to five games without a victory, with AFC Bournemouth manager Paul Groves record reading 2 wins from 13 league and cup games.

Francis told afcb.co.uk...

"I was bitterly disappointed. As we said after the game, if you score three goals you expect a point at the very least. We scored the three goals, but it was just a crazy game.

"There were a lot of individual errors and I hold my hands up to making some. If we want to be up there come the end of the season, we can`t make mistakes like that. When we took the lead, we all felt we could go on and win, but we buckled under pressure.

"We didn`t feel any pressure coming in to the game because we were unbeaten, that's all changed now. We`ve now suffered a loss and that means that it looks like a bad start to the season. It is early days though and you just have to look in the past when teams who haven`t had the best of starts end up having successful seasons and we now have to make sure we are a team like that."
